Medtech AI is an AI-powered clinical documentation and patient communication platform built specifically for New Zealand healthcare. Deeply integrated with Medtech Evolution, it functions as an ambient AI medical scribe that captures consultations in real time and converts them into structured clinical notes.
During the consultation, Medtech AI generates a live medical transcript, structured notes in formats such as SOAP, referral letters, and clear consultation summaries. It also surfaces key patient information including previous consultation notes, medications, conditions, allergies, immunisations, screenings, and outstanding tasks within a central dashboard.
Every AI-generated output is reviewed and approved by the clinician before being written back into the Practice Management Software. Medtech AI assists clinical workflows but does not replace clinical judgment.
With no audio retention, Medtech AI is designed for regulated healthcare environments. It helps clinicians reduce documentation time, improve note quality, enhance patient understanding through health literacy-adjusted email summaries, and maintain full control over every consultation.
Medtech AI integrates natively with Medtech Evolution using Medtech ALEX®.
When launched alongside Medtech Evolution, relevant patient context such as previous consultation notes, medications, conditions, allergies, immunisations, and screenings is automatically passed through. Notes and correspondence can be written directly back into the Daily Record and Patient Outbox.
There is no copying and pasting, no disconnected systems, and no third-party workflow gaps. All data remains within the Medtech ecosystem, which differentiates Medtech AI from unintegrated AI scribe tools.
Yes. Medtech AI is built specifically for regulated healthcare environments in New Zealand.
The platform aligns with the New Zealand Health Information Privacy Code. All data is processed and stored locally within New Zealand to support data residency and compliance requirements.
No. Medtech AI does not store consultation audio. Audio is processed in real time and immediately discarded.
Because audio is not retained, any internet disruption before approval will result in the recording being lost.
The system does not store patient names, dates of birth, or NHI numbers.
Medtech AI uses medical-grade AI transcription optimised for clinical terminology. It performs reliably in real-world environments, including multi-speaker consultations.
Clinician review is mandatory before any documentation is saved or clinical records updated, ensuring accuracy, safety, and medico-legal confidence.
For best results, allow the system to continue recording for a few seconds after speaking to avoid cutting off the final words of the consultation.
Yes. Medtech AI supports structured clinical notes in SOAP, APSO, Emergency, Mental Health, and specialty-specific templates. A clinician can also create custom templates to suit their clinical note style.
It can generate referral letters, clinical correspondence, diagnosis codes, screenings, and structured summaries. Custom prompts and specialty workflows can also be configured to suit different clinical settings.
Medtech AI reduces the administrative burden of clinical documentation by generating notes in real time during the consultation.
By decreasing after-hours paperwork and shortening documentation time, clinicians can finish work earlier, reduce cognitive load, and focus more fully on patient care.
Yes. Medtech AI generates patient-friendly summaries and clear to-do lists adjusted to the patient’s health literacy level.
These summaries can be sent via email after the consultation, improving patient recall, adherence to treatment plans, and overall health outcomes.
Yes. Medtech AI supports both in-person and telehealth consultations.
The platform provides real-time transcription and documentation regardless of consultation type. Clear audio quality is recommended for optimal transcription performance.
Most practices can begin using Medtech AI soon after Medtech Evolution integration is activated.
Clinicians are automatically synced, preferences can be configured quickly, and many users complete their first documented consultation on the same day. The onboarding process is designed to minimise workflow disruption.
Medtech AI is built with a FHIR® interface and follows a strict privacy by design framework.
The platform only processes the data necessary to support clinical workflows. Given its medical context, the transcription system uses the lowest appropriate content blocking level to ensure accurate capture of legitimate clinical terminology.
Medtech AI is designed for clinicians and healthcare organisations using Medtech Evolution who want to reduce documentation time and improve clinical accuracy.
It is suitable for:
Primary & Community Care
Specialist & Acute Care
Virtual & Extended Care
To use Medtech AI, your practice must be running Medtech Evolution Practice Management Software.
You will also need:
These requirements ensure seamless integration, real-time transcription, and secure workflow access.
Medtech AI is available via secure web access alongside Medtech Evolution. Mobile applications are available through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
The appointment booking feature allows clinicians to view appointments up to two hours ahead and two hours behind the current time.
This feature is particularly useful in emergency and urgent care settings where patient flow and rapid access to consultations are essential.
Clinicians use AI medical scribes to reduce documentation burden, lower cognitive load, and improve patient engagement.
By generating structured clinical notes in real time, AI scribes remove the need to type during consultations. Many clinicians report improved focus, better eye contact, and more meaningful patient interactions.
Patients also notice the difference, with smoother conversations and a stronger sense of being heard.
In short, AI medical scribing tools help clinicians reclaim time, improve workflow efficiency, enhance patient communication, and reduce burnout.
Yes. Before recording begins, a confirmation prompt requires the clinician to confirm that explicit patient consent has been obtained.
No. Medtech AI is designed with a lightweight, cloud based architecture that has minimal impact on clinic computers, servers, or network infrastructure.
Some competitor AI medical scribing tools rely heavily on local device processing and caching. In larger medical centres, this can create significant resource intensity for clinic networks and IT systems. For example, a centre with 15 clinicians running simultaneously could require more than 300 Mbps of sustained network bandwidth just for the competitor scribe software, in addition to the other systems already running in the practice.
Medtech AI is architected very differently. Both the web version and mobile application are lightweight because all processing occurs in secure cloud infrastructure rather than on the local machine. This includes transcription, AI processing, and clinical note generation.
Because of this architecture:
Medtech AI is designed to scale easily across both small clinics and large medical centres without placing strain on IT infrastructure or network capacity.
